Get Ready, Get Set, To Go Gannonball Crazy!!

Entries are now open for this year’s Gannonball Run - the breath taking, crowd pulling, family friendly soapbox race which takes place in Dungannon’s Town Centre on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August!

Do you have what it takes to brave the dizzy heights of Dungannon’s Castle Hill, to scuttle in a zig zag down through Market Square to the roar of the crowd and finish at the pit once you reach the bottom of Church Street?

Are you an adrenaline junkie or are you simply ‘up for the craic’ to take part in this unique event where you are only limited by your imagination when creating your masterpiece vehicle?

Need inspiration? Why not check out the display of sample soapboxes at the top of Market Square in the coming weeks (beside Ranfurly House and the former Post Office building) where you can get a feel of what it takes to create your very own ‘va va voom’ vehicle!

The Mayor of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, Councillor Robert Mulligan is urging local individuals and businesses to take part in this fun filled event, to which thousands of people are set to attend. He says:

“The Gannonball Run is unrivalled in Tyrone and I am delighted to be part of this very unique event. I would ask all local people to join in the fun by creating their own soapbox and taking part in what promises to be a great day out for all the family.”

Councillor Walter Cuddy, Chairman of Dungannon Regeneration Partnership (DRP) is also looking forward to the event and believes it will be bigger and better than last year’s. He says:

“I’m particularly looking forward to seeing how creative local businesses, community groups and individuals are when producing their very own branded soapbox. Last year we had everything from cartoon characters to product led designs inspired by local businesses. Why not enter as a family and use what makes your family unique to design your own soapbox? Let your imagination flow!”
